This route begins in the city of Oruro, well-known as "The Capital of the Bolivian Folklore." It received this name for the Splendid Folkloric Entrance of the Carnival that takes place every year in homage to the Virgin del Socavón. For its attractiveness and colourfulness is considered as the maximum expression of the popular and traditional cultures of Bolivia.

Climate wise you can experience low temperatures in winter. It is located at a height of 3.706 meters over the sea level. One of the attractiveness are the Mommy Tombs that are around the city, at cemeteries of past cultures of the highlands. On any visiting trip one can observe true likeness of cities.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Sepulchres. - Settlements of mining origin, because constituted one of the towns that were part of the industrial satellites of the colonial mining city. From this place the minerals were taken out in the back. These mining centres are one of the characteristics most original of the American cities. It is also possible to visit churches that date from 1785.

LAKE URU URU. -
This lake in the province of Machacamarca has an extension of 21 kilometres long and 16 kilometres wide, and with a depth 1 meter. It was formed by the overflow of the river Desaguadero, and it is possible to observe fauna of the region and fish like the pejerrey.

CALA CALA. -
It means rocky region. It is in the Cercado province 21 kilometres from the city of Oruro. In this area you'll find aboriginal art forms, also known as "Quellcata" that means written. In this area clearly prevails the topic of camélidos painted in different tonalities of red, white and black.

MACHACAMARCA.-
Small town considered a railway destination because the railroads that lead from the city of Oruro,at a distance of 30 kilometres. It has abundant vegetation of willows

that gives it a picturesque character and has an urban feeling due to the small old chalets, the housing of the railwaymen engineers at the end of the passed century.
In the suburbs there are thermal waters baths with medicinal properties. 3 kilometres from town is the mining works of the same name.

POOPO. -
This town responds to the characteristics of a mining centre, it holds places of interest like its abandoned church of the XVII century, located in the old town. Across the river is the new town that has been developed around the old towers of mineral foundry, that rise on the road with their chimneys off.

CHALLAPATA. -
Town 38 kilometres from Pazña, by the crossing of the road Oruro-Potosí. It is one of the most important towns in the commercial route of Oruro. Its urban.

From any bus terminal in the country there are buses that leave to Oruro, city with hotels infrastructure, restaurants, coffee shops, tourist operators and discos, it is a centre where you can plan visits to all the tourist attractions.
