The Tropic of Cochabamba, located in the department of the same name, is the gate door to the Bolivian amazons, enjoying pleasant subtropical climate and exuberant natural beauty.

For that reason, this region is a constant surprise. In every turn, each step and in each slight, you can feel the pleasure of stepping in one of the last ecological reservoirs of the planet, a patrimony that other countries don't possess.

 
 

The Tropic encloses the municipalities and sub-alcaldías of Villa Tunari, Shinahota, Chimoré, Port Villarroel and Entre Ríos. Each one of these towns have tourist attractions and others have a big potential to develop.

The topographical characteristics of the region, the exuberant landscapes and the residents' kindness, make of this area a touristic destination of exceptional qualities, ideal for adventure sports as kayaking, rafting, rapel, trekking, mountain bicycle and walks.

You can also practice ecological tourism, adventure, sailing, walking, sailing, fishing, camping, agriculture and ethnotourism, among others.

ACCESS ROADS
The transport to the area is varied and very frequent. You can arrive by means of Inter-departmental buses from Cochabamba and Santa Cruz. Just ask the driver to let you off at the destination you choose.

The fares vary between 3 and 10 American dollars, according to the season, the demand of tickets and the kind of service, since there are buses with bed-seats and also with normal seats, those leave from the main Bus Terminals in Cochabamba and Santa Cruz.

There are also several transport companies that offer exclusive services to the Tropic in the city of Cochabamba. Also in each town there are small terminals, where you will find inter-provincial buses.
For transportation inside the Tropic, the region has several taxi companies and motorbike taxis that offer their services. It is recommended to negotiate the price in function to the distance, the time and the route.

In Chimoré it has been recently inaugurated an air terminal that gives services to commercial flights, assisting with connections to local as well as to international flights.

LODGINGS
The hotels, although in some places have been developed with excellent services, in others is yet incipient. The area with more hotel development is the one next to Villa Tunari. Chimoré, Ivirgasama and Puerto Villarroel have a modest service of hotels. In the towns of Entre Ríos and Shinaota hotel services have just begun to be developed.
 

FOOD
There are some culinary specialties that are worthwhile mentioning so you can have the pleasure of enjoying them when visiting the Tropic: fish, the fillet of surubí with garlic, and pacú cracklings; meat from the hills, jochi or deer clay oven cooked.
